Abstract
555,881. Heat-transfer apparatus. WALWILLS, C. June 11, 1942, No. 7980. [Class 64 (iii)] Relates to tubes for radiators for heating and cooling fluids of the kind which are provided with an external wire winding serving as a radiating element. In order to increase the rigidity of an assembly of such tubes and to permit the use of finer wire, the wire, after being wound on the tube, is flattened from diametrically opposite points to a square, rectangular or other rectilinear form so that when the tubes are assembled faces of adjacent windings contact over a broad area, and the whole assembly presents a straight front to the air. In the construction shown the wire 5 after being wound on the tube as described in Specification 404,561 is mounted on the tube 4 and pressed into the form of a square.
