Abstract

543,502. Braiding machines. CARTER & CO., Ltd., B. & F., CARTER, B., and CARTER, E. Sept 23, 1940, No. 14454. [Class 74 (i)] A carrier for a braiding- machine has a flat metal clip 5 sprung on the back stem 1 of the carrier and serving as an abutment for the tension spring 2, a guide for the yarn, a guide for the yarn-controlled stop-member 8 and an abutment for the spring 9, which actuates the member 8. The clip is curled to form the passage 7 for the member 8 and is curled as at 10 to receive a pig-tail eye 11 or like open-sided guide for the yarn. A small conical projection 6 on the clip registers with one of a number of recesses in the stem 1 to position the clip. A similar clip 12 may be provided at the top of the stem 1 to hold a second pig-tail loop for guiding the yarn. Specification 488,757 is referred to.
