Abstract
513,659. Sulphuric acid. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 1, 1938, No. 10085. Convention date, April 2, 1937. [Class 1 (ii)] Sulphur dioxide is obtained from the gases evolved in the manufacture of cement from calcium sulphate by cooling the raw gases, subjecting them to a washing or like mild purification process, and treating them with a liquid which chemically absorbs sulphur dioxide. The gas obtained by regenerating this absorbent is catalytically converted into sulphuric acid in the usual way, optionally with an admixture of the untreated kiln gases.
