Abstract

509,292. Spring frames for cycles. PHANOMEN-WERKE G. HILLER AKT.- GES., and ALBERT, R. Jan. 7, 1939, No. 604. [Class 136 (iii)] In a spring frame for cycles, of the type in which the rear wheel is carried by a fork pivoted about the axis of the crank axle bearing, the fork is controlled by a rubber torsion spring concentric with the crank axle bearing and secured to the cycle frame. Each arm 2 of the rear fork or chain stay terminates adjacent the crank bracket in a disc 3 provided with a hollow projection 4 of hexagonal &c. shape to engage non-rotatably with a similarly-shaped metal sleeve 5 forming the internal member of a rubber torsion spring 6, the outer sleeve 7 of which is firmly secured within the barrel 8 of the crank bracket. The crank axle 11 is mounted by ball bearings 13 in sleeves 10 secured in the hollow projections 4.
