Abstract

504,968. Liquid-fuel burners. COWLEY, R. March 1, 1938, No. 6467, [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iii)] In a liquid-fuel burner of the short drum or creeping flame type liquid fuel is fed from a constant level fuel container 5 past a valve 12 operated directly by a thermostat 16 to the burner bowl 18 and through a pipe 7 which may be fitted with a needlevalve to a pilot wick 20 extending below the burner bowl. The pilot wick is preferably arranged in a part of the burner bowl not communicating with the main part of the burner bowl which contains asbestos 19 or other incombustible material. The temperature at which the thermostat 16 operates may be adjusted by means of a nut 15 engaging a spring 14 tending to lift the valve 12 from its seating. The burner base is fitted with adjustable legs 3.
