Abstract
495,712. Vehicle spring-suspensions. DAY, B. I., and EVERNDEN, H. I. F. May 13, 1937, No. 13531. [Class 108 (ii)] In a vehicle in which the front wheels and the members by which they are independently sprung are formed as a unit, the unit is secured to the ends of the side members of the chassis frame with the interposition of resilient material under stress to damp out vibrations. In the Figure an end cross-piece A of the chassis frame forms part of the unit and carries two upstanding bosses C to which the upper wishbones B of each pair B, B<1> supporting a front wheel are respectively pivoted. The upper wishbones B have levers (not shown) depending into casings D containing the springs and hydraulic dampers. Each boss C carries an integral V-shaped bracket G<6> the arms of which are united by a web. The brackets project into the ends of the chassis side members F, being secured by bolts passing through bosses G<2> on the brackets, in which bosses rubber sleeves are held in compression between steel sleeves.
