Abstract
476,036. Interfolding paper sheets. LERNER, F. July 13, 1937, No. 19389. Convention date, July 14, 1936. [Class 100 (i)] In a machine for interfolding prefolded sheets of paper 19, e.g. cigarette papers, by means of toothed wheels 16, 17, and for inserting sheets of cardboard 18 at predetermined intervals, each group of sheets with its sheet of cardboard is separated from the succeeding group by means of a toothed disc 9 situated adjacent to the outer edges of the sheets 18, 19 in the grooves on one of the sheets 16, and rotating at relatively high speed so that when it engages the stiff cardboard sheet it moves the sheet 18 and corresponding sheet 19 against the opposite face of the groove carrying the sheet, thus preventing interfolding at this point and causing separation of the adjacent groups. The turning action of the disc may be supplemented by an endless band 11 passing over a pulley on the shaft of the disc 9.
