467,251. Yarns containing artificial fibres &c. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Sept. 9, 1935, Nos. 25044, 25045, and 25046. Void. Convention dates, Sept. 26, 1934. [Class 120 (iii)] Mixed fibre yarns having a relatively high safe ironing-temperature contain at least one fibre consisting of saponified cellulose acetate or other organic ester of cellulose. Thus, the yarn may be composed of wool or staple fibre made from cellulose acetate or other ester or ether of cellulose, and the saponified fibres ; and the latter may be in the form of continuous filaments or as staple fibre. The yarn may however, be spun from a single type of artificial fibre of the cellulose acetate type, the individual fibres having saponified and unsaponified portions produced as by the intermittent application of saponifying agent to the continuous filaments prior to the stapling operation. As another alternative, yarn of the desired ironing properties may be obtained by doubling a yarn containing staple fibre made from cellulose acetate &c. with a yarn containing filaments of cellulose acetate which have been totally, partly or superficially saponified. The yarns may contain also wool, cotton, flax, silk and regenerated cellulose fibres.
