Abstract
436,560. Yarns. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Oct. 20, 1934, No. 30107. Convention date, Oct. 21, 1933. [Class 120 (iii)] A mixed yarn is made by working up undegummed flax with artificial spinning fibres on a machine for spinning flax. The machine may be of the wet spinning type, which gives a smooth yarn, or a dry spinning machine, which gives a woolly yarn. The flax and artificial fibres may be mixed before the spinning operations ; or the artificial fibres may be treated on a carding or combing machine and the band so produced run together with a drawn flax bound through a draw frame in the desired ratio of mixing ; or an extensible band of artificial fibres made by tearing may be mixed with a drawn flax band in a draw frame. The mixed yarn may be worked up on a wet or a dry spinning frame, or the flax may be worked up wet and the artificial fibres dry, the two being combined at the draw frame.
