Abstract
443,685. Fire-estinguishers. OFFICE INTERNATIONAL DE GRANDES MARQUES ET PRODUITS D'ORIGINE SOC. A.R.L., 33, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. July 29, 1935, No. 21542. Convention date, July 27, 1934. [Class 47 (ii)] In an automatic extinguisher of the kind in which liquid is ejected from a container 1 by gas pressure released when a capsule 5 is pierced, the outlet for the liquid is sealed by a frangible diaphragm 9 held in place by a hollow closure member 8. The latter has perforations 8c intended to diffuse the liquid as a mist, and comprises a sleeve 8d acting as a guide for the stem 10 of a striker 11. The striker is held inoperative, against the pressure of a spring 12, by a fusible or inflammable retainer 13. When it is released, it first ruptures the diaphragm 9, and then forces the capsule against a piercer 7. The retainer 13 may comprise alternate circular and star-shaped discs of inflammable or fusible material interposed between the end of the closure 8 and a head 10<a> on the stem 10. The closure may be covered by an inflammable cap 15. When the striker is released, a collar 10<b> upon it comes into sealing engagement with a washer 14 about the stem 10. The closure may be provided with a nozzle, or an outlet to a discharge pipe, instead of with perforations.
