446,201. Prepayment mechanism for meters. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., Terminal House, Lower Belgrave Street, London, and CONNOR, R., and CLIFFORD, C. F., Tameside Works, Dobcross, near Oldham. Dec. 29, 1934, No. 37242. [Class 27] In prepayment meter mechanisms, the consumption meter through wheels a, b, c rotates the planet - carrier d of the usual differential gear, the sun-wheel e of which is rotated by prepayment, the other sun-wheel h rotating the cams i controlling the trip lever j for an electric switch or other commodity supply device. The wheel h is carried by a sleeve k to which a wheel m is secured, the sleeve being mounted on a spindle n carrying the cams i. If no rent charge mechanism is to be used, the sleeve k is secured to the spindle n by a screw, so that the cams i rotate with the sleeve k. When a rent charge mechanism is required in the meter, the sleeve k is free on the spindle n and the wheel m drives a sunwheel o of the rent charge epicyclic gear, the planet carrier p of which is driven by the rent charge motor. The other sun-wheel q drives through a sleeve r and wheel s a wheel t secured to the spindle n. If the rent charge mechanism is not required, it can be removed and the sleeve k secured to the spindle n.
