Abstract

445,057. Pipe joints. HEATH, Ltd., W. H., and LAWRENCE, J. E., 35, Thornhill Road, Barnsbury, London. Dec. 21, 1934, No. 36637. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] Fluidtightness in a swivelling joint between a pipe 4, Fig. 5, and a gland member 1 on a second pipe 2 is secured by conical lignum vitae &c. rings 9, 9<1>, with an interposed washer or washers 10 of yieldable material, which are compressed by a gland nut 3 through a loose collar 8. In a modification a plain collar 8 is formed integral with the pipe 4 and the ring 91 is dispensed with, the collar abutting against the washers 10 with the interposition of a metal washer. The invention is particularly applicable to the joints between beer dispensing pipes 16, 18, 19, Fig. 1, and junction members 13, 15, 17 provided with draining and cleaning plugs 20.
