Abstract

445,144. Pipe joints. BRITISH MANNESMANN TUBE CO., Ltd., Corporation Road, Newport, Monmouthshire, and ALBERT, W., 7, Richmond Villas, Swansea. April 17, 1935, No. 11876. [Class 99 (i)] Two pipes b, c, Fig. 2, are drawn together to compress a jointing ring a located between outwardly-extending flanges b<1>, c<1> on the pipes by relative rotation of a housing d and a cam e provided respectively with coacting lugs f and inclined surfaces h. As shown, the housing and cam are loosely mounted on the pipes and abut against the flanges thereof, the cam being slotted for the passage of the lugs f of the housing during assembly of the two parts. Fig. 3 shows a modified joint in which the flange c<1> is of partly spherical form.
