Abstract

433,489. Preventing condensation on double windows. PARNALL & SONS, Ltd., Soho Foundry, Birmingham, and GABB, A. H., 67, Lodge Causeway, Fishponds, Bristol. May 8, 1934, No. 13829. [Class 20 (iii)] Observation panels, windows, and the like are made by inserting between two glass sheets 3, 4 a distance-piece in the form of a glass frame 5 which is secured to the sheets in a manner analogous to that employed in the production of laminated safety glass. The inner edges of the frame determine the size of the space between the panels, and this space is partially or totally evacuated of air or is treated with a current of cold air corresponding to the temperature on one side of the panel. In the construction shown, the inner sheet 4 of a refrigerator observation panel is provided with valve-controlled passages 4<a> connected to pipes which circulate a stream of cold air from the refrigerator. The frame 5 is united to the sheets in the manner described in either of the Specifications 326,229 and 332,551, [both in Class 20 (iii)], and the edges of the panel are also sealed. A panel or window may be made of three or more sheets having adjacent sheets spaced by a frame 5.
