Abstract

461,018. Inspection windows for stoves. MAIN, Ltd., R. & A., and WORTLEY, G. W. Sept. 23, 1935, No. 26350. [Class 28 (i)] The door of a gas or like cooking- oven comprises as a unit a door frame 17, 18, two sheets 10 of toughened glass or other heatresistant, transparent material, means such as members 12 for spacing the sheets apart, means such as a frame 11 for clamping the sheets together to form a sub-unit, and means for securing the sub-unit in the door frame. The parts 17, 18 of the door are bolted together so that flanges 19 engage the frame 11. The recess between the parts 17, 18 may be provided with locating abutments. The frame 11 is of channel section and may be in one piece of resilient metal sprung over the sheets or comprise two L-shaped parts secured together by lugs on each part screwed to the other part. The spacing members 12 may consist of resilient sheet metal parts of U -shape section and may constitute an encircling frame or a number of such members may be fixed at intervals to the frame 11. The members 12 carry flanges 13 engaging the edges of the sheets and lying against the bottom 14 of the frame 11. Sealing- material may be provided between the various joints.
