Abstract
429,698. Locks. CARPENTER, G. B., 3B, Nevern Road, Earl's Court, London. Dec. 21, 1933, No. 36004. [Class 44] In a key-operated lock the bolt 3 is actuated through the medium of a sliding member 8 moved by the key and connected by a pin 19 to the short arm of a lever 15 pivoted at 16 and connected by its longer arm to the bolt, so that the movement of the bolt is greater than that of the member 8. The movement of the bolt is about half the width of the casing 4. A pin 12 on the member 8 engages slots 13 in wards 6 to prevent movement until the wards are moved by the key. In another form, the member 8 moves in the same direction as the bolt and transmits its movement to the bolt by a lever pivoted between its ends.
