[Class 37] In a hot plate or the like comprising a grooved body of metal or other material of high conductivity the resistance arranged in the groove has an "effective surface similar to the interior surface of the groove and the current path is tortuous and much larger than the length of the groove. The resistance may consist of a wire grid bent to U -form about a line in its own plane or a strip cut to zig-zag form and bent to a U- section.
