Abstract
416,446. Incandescent gas lighting. PRESTAGE, A. J., and SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO., 709, Old Kent Road, London. June 19, 1933, No. 17457. [Class 75 (i).] An incandescent body 1 is carried by a frame 4 within a metal cage, preferably a wire helix 5, adapted to be attached to a burner 8. As shown, the frame 4 and helix 5 are formed from a single piece of wire, one end of the helix being bent to form a loop 6, secured by a nut 7 on the burner, and the other end being secured to the top of the frame. The body 1 is preferably made by the method described in Specification 415,870, the thread being wound on paper sleeves 2 on a wire fork and transferred with the sleeves on to the parallel parts 3 of a bent wire. One end of the wire is then bent to complete the frame, which is inserted in a tube, the other end being wound outside the tube to form the loop 6 and helix 5 and secured to the frame.
