Abstract

Liquids are purified by means of activated carbon which is placed as a layer in the midst of a sand filter or is mixed with the sand of a filter. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the addition of carbon to sewage prior to treatment of the latter by the activated sludge process. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
