392,734. Pipe joints. LENZE, A., 8, Baumeisterstrasse, Karlsruhe, Baden, Ger. many. May 6, 1932, No. 13125. [Class 99 (i).] In a pipe connection for use in rigid pipe lines having thick walls, pipe ends of elliptic cross section are provided with circular fitting surfaces which lie at the angle to the longitudinal axis of the pipe ends at which the cross section of the end is circular. A short straight pipe length 1 is of circular section at one end, where it is provided with a flange 3 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tube, and its section merges into an elliptical form at its other end 6 where a flange is disposed obliquely to the longitudinal axis to produce a circular section in the tube in the plane of the flange ; two such tubes are joined together at their oblique flanges by circular plates 9, 10 to form an angle piece or bend the inclination of which is adjustable by rotating the flanges relatively to one another. Short intermediate tubes 14, Fig. 4, of elliptical section and provided at both ends with oblique flanges 16, 17 may be interposed between the tubes 13, 15 to increase the inclination. 11“‹ and 45‹ are mentioned as angles of obliquity.
