Abstract

[Class 37.] The moisture - content, and the pressure exerted by rollers, for a given width of material in drying machines, calenders, raising and warping machines wherein an electrostatic charge is imparted to the material by friction during its passage through the machine, are determined by an electroscope or recording electrometer. The duration of a working operation of the machine can also be determined. As shown, electroscopes 1 are located adjacent the fabric 6 leaving a drying drum 5 and also near the fabric before it is led to the drum 5. Earth connections to the casings of the electroscopes are made at 7.
