Abstract

372,952. Centrifugal pumps. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. and BJÍRNSTAD, J., Nine Elms Iron Works, Reading. May 18, 1931, No. 14638. [Class 110 (i).] A centrifugal air pump 6 of the water ring type is mounted on a shaft 7 provided with an axially adjustable thrust bearing 9 .. 12 so that only one face of the rotor 6 is in contact with a face 5 of the casing 3. The inlet and delivery ports are in the face 5, and the water ring is replenished through a V-shaped groove 18 controlled by a screw 18a. Surplus water in the pump may leak through the gap 22 into the space 23 communicating with the suction chamber 16 of the pump. A water pump 4 may be mounted on the same shaft.
