Abstract
361,859. Parachute harness. LUNDHOLM AKTIEBOLAG, C. H., 4, Võstra Trõdgardsgatan, Stockholm.-(Assignees of Lundholm, C. H. ; 4, Võstra Trõdgardsgatan, Stockholm.) Aug. 18, 1930, No. 24699. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1929. [Class 141.] . A parachute harness has various straps connected to a centrally - arranged locking device which can be readily operated by the parachutists for release, which is effected in two movements before the locking device yields. A handle is rotated first about its pivot to release a bolt, and subsequently the handle is rotated to complete the unlocking of the harness. As shown applied tothe harness described in Specification 361,869, a locking device 27 has a projection 22 to which is attached a fixed part of the waist belt 10 and a fixed part 12 of one of the shoulder straps 12<1>. The other shoulder strap 11 is detachably attached by a loop 23 to the locking mechanism. Similar connection is also established at 24 to the waistbelt and at 25, 26 to leg straps 14, 15, which are also attached to the shoulder straps 11, 12. A strap 13 connects the straps 11, 12 and serves for the aviator to sit in as in a swing. The locking device is shown in Figs. 4 and 5, and comprises an outer casing 30 and an inner casing 31 capable of being locked thereto by a bolt 47 attached to a link 45 pivoted at 35. The link has a projection 53 against which a hand-lever 36 is capable of engaging after being raised some distance from the position shown in Fig. 5. After engagement, a continued movement of the handle withdraws the bolt 49, which is, spring-pressed and allows the inner casing to be rotated. This latter operation brings inclined surfaces 43 against projections 42 on spring-pressed retaining bolts 39 to raise the bolts and free the loops on the harness. The bolts are provided with wedge-shaped ends past which the loops of the straps are snapped for engagement thereof. A spring rod 55 maintains the loops against the bolts-
