Abstract

937,459. Buckles. W. J. CLARK, and L. S. DAVIES. Jan. 19, 1962 [Nov. 4, 19 No. 15652/60. Classes 43 and 141. A quick-release buckle comprises a bar hingedly connected at one end to the buckle and releasably connected thereto at its other end by a spring-loaded locking bolt entering an opening in the buckle, the bolt being slidably mounted in the bar and being retractable by externally accessible means for releasing a strap located between the buckle and bar. The buckle has two end lugs 13, 14, the bar 16 pivots on the lug 13 and the lug 14 has a hole 21 in which engages the bolt 19 slidable in a stepped bore in the bar 16. The bolt is urged into locking position in the hole 21 by a helical spring 22 extending between a collar 23 on the bolt and a circlip 24 in a groove in the bore of the bar. The bolt is released by depressing a lever 26 pivoting in an aperture in the end of the bar and linked to the end of the bolt by a wire loop 25. The buckle has two slots through which an end of the strap passes. In a car safety strap, the strap passing through two anchor loops secured to the floor of the car and through a loop attached to the back of a seat. An intermediate part of the strap engages in the buckle which is closed the other end of the strap being adjustably secured to an anchor loop.
