Abstract

360,359. Dredgers. REID, J., 4, Lloyd's Avenue, London. July 28, 1930, No. 22673. [Class 113 (ii).] In order to facilitate the separation of solid matter from the water pumped into the spoil tanks &c. of suction dredgers, each ot the spoil tanks is provided with receptacles f, Fig. 3, or concentric walls f<1>, Fig. 5, against which the pumped material is discharged from the launder c by spouts d in a tangential direction. As shown in Fig. 3, the receptacles f have a tapering extension with a subsequent conical enlargement and the water overflow takes place finally through the pipe i. Alternatively the discharge may take place from compartment to compartment through sluice valves k finally overboard at m. Vertical plates may be arranged beneath the receptacles f to prevent swashing in a seaway.
