Abstract

342,815. U-tube heat exchangers ; indirectly heated steam boilers. BAUMANN, K., Northwoodhouse, Barnfield, Urmston, Lancashire. Nov. 21, 1929, No. 35673. [Class 64 (iii).] In a high pressure steam generator or other evaporator comprising a casing 4 containing heating tubes 1, the tube plate 2 is secured to the cover 6 of the casing by a ring 8 which is shrunk on the tube plate. The heating fluid inlet and outlet header chambers 11, 12 between the tube plate and the cover are separated by a U-shaped resilient partition 13. The ring 8 may be formed integral with the cover or may be shrunk on the part of the cover projecting into the casing. The ring may be additionally secured to the tube plate and cover by pins or grub screws, by welding or caulking and by rolling over the edges of the ring. The tubes are supported by lattice stay plates 20 secured to longitudinal plates 19. The cover and the ring may be protected from the heat of the heating fluid by a metal lining.
