339,355. Jensen, C. A., (Electric Smelting & Aluminium Co.). Sept. 7, 1929. Cleansing-compositions.-An anhydrous detergent comprises the double silicate Al2O3. (SiO2)x- (Na2O)x-1 in which x represents any number greater than seven and may be prepared by fusing together alumina or an aluminium silicate, silica, and sodium carbonate, the last being replaced wholly or in part by potassium carbonate when a product containing potash is desired. A slight excess of alkali metal oxide may be caused, to be present in the product, and the latter may be cooled and ground, and have physically incorporated therewith an alkali base or an alkali metal salt of a weak acid, for instance sodium or potassium hydroxide. carbonate, phosphate, or borate. An emulsifying, dispersing, or wetting agent such as a saponified or sulphonated oil, fat, or resin may also be added, and the product may be added to soap during its manufacture or be mechanically mixed with soap flakes or powders.
