Abstract

296,571. Breeden, C. L. Sept 29, 1927. Latches, sliding; striking-plates for latches. -In a latch for motorvehicle doors the plate a of the latch has a projection s, preferably rubber covered, which enters an aperture in a projecting portion r of the striking - plate p to prevent movements of the door in its own plane. The latch mechanism may have a cover-plate u cut away as shown to expose the projection s. The bolt b is urged to the shot position by a spring d and may be withdrawn by a lever e having a handle g for inside operation and a handle i on the square spindle of the lever for outside operation. According to the Provisional Specification the outside handle may operate a cam acting on the lever. Withdrawal of the latch may be prevented by a looking lever m adapted to be moved by finger-piece end o so that its other end engages a projection n on the lever e and prevents movement thereof.
