Abstract

Stoppers with valves. -A bottle closure comprises a central tubular body member e closed by a membrane g which is adapted to be pierced to open the bottle by a pointed member h screwed into the member e and formed with longitudinal and transverse borings k, l through which the contents of the bottle may be discharged. After opening, the screw member h makes a tight closure with the member g. The screw threads on the members h and e may be replaced by interrupted screw threads or by interengaging lugs or projections. In a modification, a coned portion t, Fig. 7, on the screw member h makes a tight closure with a valve seat r on the body member e and the membrane, which is not integral with the body member e, is forced out and removed by the screw member h.
