Abstract

286,778. Villiers, C. A. Dec. 8, 1926. Two-stroke-cycle engines; pumps and ejectors; driving-gear. - An engine has three cylinders radiating from a common combustion chamber, the pistons 5, 6, 9 driving on to separate crank shafts which are coupled together by chain, linkage, or as shown, toothed gear 13, 14. Air or combustible mixture is supplied by a Roots blower; the engine may work on the Diesel cycle. The piston 9 controls the inlet ports 8 and the other pistons exhaust ports 4; the pistons may be out of phase. The exhaust is withdrawn by an ejector worked by steam generated in a flash boiler by means of the exhaust gases. The exhaust is passed through a condenser to collect the water which is used again in the boiler.
