Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In an engine in which fuel is injected laterally from nozzles d into a stream of air to which a rotary motion is imparted by a screen a<1> on the air inlet valve a, a central projection b<1> is provided on the piston so that the air is squeezed into the annular combustion chamber b thus formed and is given a motion transverse to the rotary motion.
