Abstract
An aerial capable of transmitting and/or receiving both optical, including infrared, and high frequency (microwave) electro-magnetic radiation comprises a hollow conductor 10 in the interior of which is arranged an optical conductor 12 as a dielectric. The hollow conductor has formed in its wall at least one slot 14 which acts as an input and/or output coupling opening of the hollow conductor and as an inlet and/or outlet window for optical radiation. Several such aerials may be used as a mast- like array. <IMAGE>
