Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a compact and easy-to-handle directional coupler which can be mounted to the microwave oven by coupling the microstrip line to the waveguide of the electronic and then providing the attenuator to the microstrip line. CONSTITUTION:It is supposed that the electric wave travels along waveguide 2 from end B to end A, and a pair of holes I and II are installed about at the center of face E of the waveguide with the space of l1. The value of l1 is selected as l1= lambdag/4, where lambdag is the wavelength of the microwave within the waveguide. And microstrip line S is provided near the hole outside waveguide 2 and orthogonally to waveguide 2 as if line S were combined to the electromagnetic wave within the waveguide, and the both ends of line S are referred to as C and D each. At the same time, length l2 of line S is set as l2=3/4lambdag' (lambdag': wavelength at the microstrip line) at the area where holes I and II are combined together.
