Abstract

A sabot is divided longitudinally into a plurality of segments a and is held in position around a projectile by engagement in the mouth of a cartridge casing. The sabot may be surrounded by a sleeve b which acts as a gas seal in the combustion chamber of the weapon. A gas obturator may be provided at the rear of the sabot and has a boss for engagement in the base of the projectile <IMAGE>
