Operating and controlling doors by springs. - Plunger rods d arranged horizontally on the door are pressed against the door - post by springs engaging adjustable collars e and guide - plates b, through which the free ends of the rods can slide. When the door is opened, the spring on the rod in engagement with the door-post is compressed. In the arrangement shown for a door free to, swing open in either direction, the guideplates b form part of a strap member a, and a plate g on the door-post serves as an abutment for either rod d. A single rod d is employed for a door swinging open in one direction only.
