Coated boxes; corner joints; boxes weighted at base.-A vessel or pot of parchment, wood pulp, paper, cardboard, &c., for containing cream, preserves, &c., has a filling e of plastic material introduced into the recess or "kick" at the bottom, as shown. When the material has set, the vessel is rendered liquid-tight, and rapid passage of heat to or from it is prevented, the vessel also being rendered more stable. The bottom c, of wood pulp, wood, tin, aluminium, &c., is shown as formed with the usual flange d entering a grooved rim formed by turning up the lower end of the body a. The filling e may be plaster of paris, mixed or not with fibrous asbestos, zinc oxide, glue, &c., or of glue, sealing-wax, or other cement to which hair may be added.
