Abstract

21,652. Higginson, J., and Arundel, H. Sept. 17. Winding-machines.-In a drum winding-machine, a conical drum a is interposed between the tube or conical bobbin b upon which the yarn is to be wound and the drum-driving shaft c. Each drum has approximately the same taper as the tube b, and the front edge adjacent the tube b is parallel to the line of reciprocation of the thread-guides d. The drum a may be formed of a number of segments, only one of which, preferably that adjacent the larger end of the cop, drives the cop, the remaining segments being free upon the shaft.
