Abstract

189,485. Marshall, J. E. L. July 27, 1921. Spring surfaces for seats. The frame of a railway carriage or like seat is made of L-iron with the angles filled with wood for securing the upholstery. The front, back, and end members, A, B, C, respectively, are made with L-iron with the web vertical and on the inner side of the frame, and with the horizontal portion uppermost. The cross members D may be of angleiron or other section. The springs are supported on metal bands H, J which are secured to the timber filling-in pieces E.
