Abstract

1528482 Two-part couplings AMERACE CORP 29 Aug 1975 [6 Sept 1974] 24407/77 Divided out of 1528481 Heading H2E An electrical contact bridging conductors 22, 25 is formed by a conductive strip 10 having openings 12, 14 extending alternately transversely of the strip, the region 16 between each pair of openings 12, 14 being twisted about an axis 18 transverse of the strip and closer to the edge 12a of opening 12 than edge 14a of opening 14. The strip may thereupon be formed into a cylinder with longer contact portions 16a (see Fig. 2) extending inwardly, Fig. 4a, and shorter contact portions 16b extending outwardly, so that when located in an annular recess 26 in a housing 25 the strip serves as a socket contact co-operating with a pin 22, portions 16a serving resiliently to engage the pin 22. The end of portion 16a which engages the pin may be provided with a surface so shaped that when the portion 16a is loaded by the pin the surface corresponds in shape to the pin surface, see Fig. 5 and Figs. 6(a) and 6(b) (not shown), and Specification 1,528,481.
