Abstract

152,596. Litrem, A. P. Oct. 17, 1919, [Convention date]. Guarding against unauthorized use.-To prevent the unauthorized use of a motor-vehicle, the steering-post is fitted with a bracket b<1> fixed on the steering-column b, the bracket carrying a combination lock a provided with a bolt adapted to enter a recess in the steering-post. The lock comprises rotatable rings d, Fig. 2, marked with letters &c. and separated by non-rotatable rings l carrying springs which engage notches in the rings d and form a non-slipping device. The rings d enclose inner rings e adjustable by means of a pin and recesses in the respective rings, the rings e being provided with grooves co-operating with the notched bolt i. When the letter rings are set, the spring-pressed bolt is pressed downwards and enters a recess in the steering post.
