Abstract

1518878 Hydrogenation catalysts EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 22 April 1976 [14 May 1975] 16353/76 Heading B1E Catalysts for the reduction of organic compounds such as benzene aldehydes and olefins comprise silica, 2-10 wt.% Cu and 25-50 wt.% Ni and have a B.E.T. surface area of 150- 300 m<SP>2</SP>/b and can be made by mixing an aqueous slurry containing silicate anions and porous solid particles with nickel and copper cations, the nickel content of the reaction solution being below 0.60 moles/litre, heating the mixture, adding a precipitating agent to precipitate copper nickel and silicate ions on to the porous solid particles and reducing.
