Abstract
1357918 Conversion catalysts UNION OIL CO of CALIFORNIA 30 June 1971 30694/71 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A catalyst composition comprising oxides of molybdenum, cobalt or nickel and phosphorus on a foraminous carrier is formed by impregnating the carrier with an aqueous solution of (a) a soluble molybdenum compound in a concentration, expressed as MoO 3 , of 10-30 wt %, (b) a soluble compound of cobalt or nickel in a concentration, expressed as the oxide, of from 1 to 10 wt. %, and (c) an acid of phosphorus, in a concentration corresponding to a P/MoO 3 wt. ratio of 0.1 to 0.25, the solution having an initial pH up to 2.5. Specified carriers are silica, alumina, aluminosilicates and silicamagnesia. The composition is thermally activated before use in an oxidising atmosphere at 800F or above. In the Examples, the carriers used are silica-stabilised aluminas.
