Abstract
151,821. Marr, S. D., and Marr, R. D. Sept. 29, 1919. Guarding against unauthorized use.-The steering-wheel is locked by means of a T- shaped member 6 sliding in a box 1 carried on or formed with the steering-column. The member 6 is formed with a stop 10 and is normally pressed downwards by a spring 12. In its elevated position, the member engages the spokes or control levers and is locked by a spring bolt 19 engaging a recess 11. The bolt 19 is released by opening a door on the box, a projection on the door engaging a cranked lever 16 operating the bolt. In the case of a rotating steering- column, the device is reversed and engages a lug on the dash-board or other part of the vehicle.
