Abstract

1516647 Hose structures GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 17 March 1976 [23 May 1975] 23055/75 Heading F2P A vulcanized hose structure having a tapered bore comprises an inner elastomeric lining 7, a layer of plastically deformable material 8 tapered to form a cylindrical outer surface, reinforcing layers 9, 10, a textile breaker fabric layer 11 and elastomeric cover layer 12. The hose has end fittings secured thereto for connection to different diameter pipe-lines. The tapered layer 8 may be of elastomeric material or a combination of an elastomer and a layer or successive layers of textile material. In the embodiment shown reinforcing layer 9 is of helically wound plies of textile reinforcement or wire cord and layer 10 is of helical steel wire or wires. One or both of layers 9, 10 may be replaced by a sandwich construction consisting of a layer of elastomeric material between layers of fabric or yarn. A buoyancy layer may be included between the reinforcing layer and the cover layer or exteriorly thereof.
