Abstract
1512625 Production of ethylene oxide SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 16 May 1975 [20 May 1974 19 June 1974] 20836/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Ethylene oxide is made by the vapour phase epoxidation of ethylene at 210-285 C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising a porous refractory support having 2-20 wt. per cent Ag deposited on its exterior and pore surfaces and coincidentally deposited therewith K, Rb and/or Cs in an amount of 0À0020-0À013, 0À0006 to 0À012 and 0À0006-0À0075 g.-eq./kg. of total catalyst, respectively, for each square metre of surface area/gram. of support material, the amount of K, Rb and/or Cs being either at least 0À00004 but less than 0À00035 or more than 0À003 but not more than 0À008 g.-eq./kg. of total catalyst.
