Abstract

1511198 Electrostatic printing XEROX CORP 17 Dec 1976 52780/76 Heading B6F An electrostatic latent image is formed on a continuous dielectric surface, e.g. a drum 1, by electric signals applied to a plurality of styli 10, the latent image developed by a liquid developer applicator 11 and the developed image transferred to a copy sheet 12. An electrically biased roller 14 simultaneously applies a uniform charge and a film of liquid to the drum 1 to clean it. A doctor blade 15 reduces the liquid film to a thin uniform thickness and the styli 10 deposit their charges on the drum 1 through said thin liquid film. The cleaning fluid may be developer liquid.
