Abstract
1502687 Opacimeter with gas inlet adapter ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 30 April 1975 [28 May 1974] 17904/75 Heading G1A A gas opacimeter comprises an adapter which connects an exhaust gas sample conduit to the inlet of a measuring chamber and has partitions forming passages having a constant area ratio and means to pass a light beam through the latter. Circular inlet opening 42 is connected to a flexible sampling tube from the exhaust pipe of a Diesel engine. A rectangular opening at the other end is slipped on to the rectangular inlet of the measuring chamber. Curved partitions 41 in half shells 44, 45 split the gas flow into partial flows in passages in each of which the ratio of its cross-sectional area to that of the whole adapter is the same at inlet 42 as at the adapter outlet. The partitions 41 may be straight, Fig. 4 (not shown), the greatest widening of the cross-section should be in the first third of the adapter. The opacimeter is described with Fig. 1 (not shown) and has a rotary disc for interrupting the light and a comparison chamber with clean air.
