Abstract

1438927 Composite acrylonitrile fibres BAYER AG 24 Sept 1974 [27 Sept 1973] 41453/74 Heading B5B The composite fibre comprises two components of acrylonitrile polymers or mixtures thereof, each component having substantially the same acidic group content and in which the first component comprises up to 6% by wt. of copolymerized methyl acrylate and/or isobutene diacetate and the second component comprises a copolymer of acrylonitrile with methyl acrylate and/or isobutene diacetate, such that the ester content of the second component is from 2-6% by wt. higher than the first component and such that at least one fibre component comprises at least 2% by wt. of isobutene diacetate. The acid group content is derived from at least one copolymerized acidic group-containing monomer especially sodium methallylsulphonate, in amounts of 0À5-6%. Fibres are dry or wet spun in a side by side configuration.
