Abstract

1413638 Bulk storage tanks SOC GENE RALE D'ENTREPRISES 31 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 26132/73 Heading E1T A method of constructing a re-inforced concrete tank of large capacity for hydrocarbons comprises the steps of forming a peripheral wall by means of guide beams 18 disposed in a circular arrangement of holes, forming an access gallery at base level to the centre of the above arrangement, excavating a central wall and a series of terrace steps emanating therefrom, removing the spoil through the access 4 progressively forming the wall adjacent the beams 18 from ground level downwardly to the box whilst removing the excavated spoil and then forming an apron at base level. A conveyor or trucks may be used to remove the spoil through the access 4 which is eventually blocked off with a fluid-tight door 37; gutters and ducts provided for use of the tank being disposed in the access 4. The tank may be provided with a floating roof and a fixed roof.
