Abstract

1497443 Armrests; securing upholstery DAIMLER-BENZ AG 7 Oct 1975 [12 Oct 1974] 41059/75 Heading A4J and A4M The two end positions of a vehicle seat armrest which is pivotally mounted on a shaft 7 fixed to an adjustable seat back 3 are defined by two pins 12, 13 on the armrest engaging the ends of two slots 10, 11 formed in a stop plate 9 secured to the shaft. A frictional force produced by compression springs 17 on the pins and transmitted to the stop plate by friction discs 18 has to be overcome in order to move the armrest between the two end positions. Adjustment of nuts on the outer ends of the pins adjusts the frictional force. The armrest may comprise polyurethane foam enclosed in a material cover and having an opening 20 through which the shaft extends, a barbed ring 22 covering the opening and securing the material cover in position.
